Waiting

This morning I have been thinking about waiting. Not just waiting but waiting on God. I remembered several things I prayed about for many many years but nothing seemed to change. I kept praying and hoping that God would come through and one day he did. He came through without me noticing and it hit me many days later that He had done it. You see many times, God works a day at a time. He heals that condition a day at a time. He releases us from bondage, a day at a time. He works on our character a day at a time.

You are probably experiencing what i have experienced… Waking up every morning and everything seems the same. The pain is there, the heartache is there, the sickness is there, the habit is there, the joblessness is there, the loneliness is there, the situation seems the same despite all the prayers you’ve made and all the tears you have cried. But you know what? It is not the same. God has been working and is working a day at a time. You are not where you were yesterday. A full day of healing work happened yesterday. Another full day of God at work will happen today. Tomorrow will be another day of healing and our sovereign God at work!

Our responsibility is to hang on. To keep trusting. To keep fighting a day at a time. Is it anger you are dealing with? Keeping counting to ten when someone makes you angry, keep walking away when you feel anger building up, keep trying again the next day when you fail today. Do not give up!

Isaiah 40:31

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Is it pornography you are trying to stop watching? Keep resisting when the urge comes! Keep praying for strength when you feel it running out! Keep fleeing when you need to! Avoid those friends who encourage you to go back! Keep switching off the telly when suggestive scenes appear! Throw away those funny movies! Talk to a friend who is strong in the faith! A day at a time and one day you will be free!! You see, each day God moves you further away from porn’s claws. He repairs the damage caused to your mind, your heart, your soul, your eyes, your life…. Do not allow the devil to discourage you and make you feel like you have made no progress. As long as you are looking to God then you are always in the right direction! Do not give up!

Is it a soulmate that you are trusting God for? Does everyone seem to be getting married apart from you? Keep waiting on God! Keep praying and trusting Yahweh to bring you the right person in His time! Keep your heart open to the will of God! Do not give up! Do not put your life at a stand still because you are single! God is working on you and on that special person wherever they are. He will bring you together and you will be awed at what God has been working on! Trust in God! Keep yourself pure and do not give up!!

Trust God with your falling marriage, trust Him with that job you hate, trust him with that difficult boss, trust him with that drunkard father or husband, trust him with that sickness, trust him with your broken heart, trust him with your jobless state, trust him with your seemingly uncertain future, trust him, trust him, trust him!!

Whatever our situation, God is at work!

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
